Hockey World Cup 2018: India strengthened their chances of earning a direct berth to quarters after draw with Belgium.

Hockey World Cup 2018: India played out a 2-2 draw with Belgium in their second pool match at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

India vs Belgium was a match of two halves as the first 30 minutes of the match belonged to the team in red while the home team absolutely dominated the next 30 minutes at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Both India and Belgium have four points from two matches but India are superior on goal difference. On Sunday, Harmanpreet Singh and Simranjeet Singh got their names on the scoresheet for India even as Varun Kumar and captain Manpreet Singh played an equally important role in the match.

Harendra Singh conceded that India tweaked their structure after falling behind in the first half and that change of strategy worked for them.

India had scored five past South Africa in their opener while Belgium had scraped through a 2-1 win over Canada in their first match.

Belgium controlled the first half of the match with some organised and smart hockey while India had been quite loose. They were losing possession really quickly and failed to grab their chances.
